Who we are

Northrise University Initiative (“NUI,” “we,” “us”) is a U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports Northrise University in Ndola, Zambia. This policy explains what we collect when you visit northrise.org, give, sign up for email or text updates, or contact us… and how we use it.

Information we collect

  • Information you give us: your name, email, phone number, mailing address and anything you write to us through our contact form, newsletter signup, text message signup, or donation forms.
  • Donation information: gifts are processed securely by Click & Pledge. NUI does not receive or store your full card or bank details. We receive your name, contact details, gift amount and designation so we can send receipts and thank you.
  • Information collected automatically: pages visited, device and browser type, approximate location (city or country level), and how you arrived at our site. We collect this through cookies and similar technologies described below.

How we use your information

  • To process gifts and send tax receipts
  • To reply to your questions
  • To send email and text updates you have signed up for
  • To understand how our website is used and improve it
  • To measure and improve our online outreach, including ads on Google and Meta (Facebook and Instagram)

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.

Services we use

These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy policies.

Text messaging (SMS)

If you opt in to NUI text messages, we collect your mobile phone number and your consent, and use them only to send the messages you agreed to receive: ministry updates, event and trip information, and giving opportunities. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel at any time or HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of any gift or purchase.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. This excludes only the text messaging service provider (SimpleTexting) that delivers our messages on our behalf.

Full program details are in our SMS Text Messaging Terms.

Cookies and your choices

  • Visitors in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland: analytics and advertising cookies stay off until you accept them in our cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time with the “Cookie settings” link in the footer.
  • Everyone: you can block or delete cookies in your browser, opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, and manage ad preferences in Google ad settings and your Facebook settings.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to access, correct or delete your personal information, or to stop sending you communications.

If you are in the EEA, UK or Switzerland, you also have the right to:

  • restrict or object to our processing
  • receive your data in a portable format
